This Fellowship has been approved by the Singapore Orthopaedic Association and the designated hospitals for the year 2006 are National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The terms of references are:
- There will be 5 sponsored candidates per year, one from each of the ASEAN countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines,Thailand and Vietnam) with 2 or 3 candidates in each hosting institution.
- Candidates must be a general Orthopaedic Surgeon, below the age of 35 years and be supported by their respective NOA.
- The candidates will be granted an observer status with no operating privileges for a period of two weeks.
- Successful applicants will be sponsored for accommodation, administrative expenses as well as a daily stipend of S$50.00 for a total of two weeks. This will come from the yearly S$10,000.00 set-aside for the above fellowship from SOA funds.
- The return air-fare will be borne by the respective Orthopaedic Associations of the country of origin of the candidate.
- Candidates are to apply through the Orthopaedic Association of their own country.
- The timing of the fellowship will be 2 weeks before the SOA Annual Scientific Meeting and will end at the said Meeting and candidates will have to present a paper.
- Fellows will submit a report to the Asean Orthopaedic Association secretariat upon completion of the Fellowship.
- The deadline will be on 31 July 2006
