Welcome Message

2010 marks the final year of the “Bone and Joint Decade” as declared by the World Health Organization. The decade started out with promising new technologies and techniques such as Computer Aided Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Research into cartilage regeneration, new biological materials and tissue engineering was done and is continuing in earnest. Renewed interest in Total Ankle Arthroplasty has come about and arthroscopy of small joints has been established. We are getting better at doing revision surgery and new technologies and instrumentations have helped us tremendously. Some of these technologies have matured and the indications refined, while others still continue to confound us.

As we are about to start a new decade, it is prudent that we evaluate what is current thinking and how we are going to proceed into the future. This year’s meeting theme is “Lower Limb Reconstruction in the New Millennium”. Experts in their respective fields have been invited to share their experience at the meeting. The discussions would be wide ranging from arthroplasty to sports medicine and trauma. Pre-congress workshops in lower limb osteotomies and ankle arthroscopy, and Instructional Course Lectures in Knee Revision Surgery have been organized.

I would like to encourage each and everyone of you to participate in this meeting as I am sure that you will benefit form the scientific program that has been put up.

For our foreign visitors, I extend a warm welcome you to Singapore. The landscape in Singapore has changed with the opening of the Integrated Resorts. Besides the scientific program, please do extend your stay to partake in the new offerings.

Thank You
